In these seminars, each participant will consider the role of intuitive thinking and creative thought in their personal and professional lives. The discussion will move from talk to implementation vis- a-vis the studio experience. The goal is not to, in three days, become an accomplished sculptor or painter, but rather to transcend the verbalized ideas and channel the thought process into physical action (object). The object created in the studio is intended to symbolize the idea by testing its viability in a physical world and with multidimensional consideration. Thus, the object becomes experimentation through redefinition, not through re-presentation.
The Quarry is located near LaConner, Washington, equidistant between Seattle and Vancouver B.C., approximately one hour and fifteen minutes north or south. Shuttle transportation is available to and from SeaTac Airport in Seattle.

The Seminar Facilitator

Joseph Kinnebrew has worked as a sculptor and painter for nearly 40 years. During this time, he has lectured, written and been a tireless advocate for the integration of artistic thought into our everyday lives. This three-day seminar is being presented in response to requests by those who have wanted to interact with Kinnebrew on a variety of subjects for an extended period of time in the studio at The Quarry.

At The Quarry, Kinnebrew has created an environment to facilitate his own creativity and that of others. The Quarry is a place where art truly lives and is an omnipresent influence on the lives of all who visit and work there. Because Kinnebrew’s work and interests are so varied, he is uniquely suited to teach by sharing and by example.

Part of Kinnebrew’s uniqueness as an artist is his interest in how a deeper understanding of the many facets of life can be reflected in art. He has taken his message of integration into corporate boardrooms, legislative committee meetings and numerous classrooms and lecture halls.
